Mainstream media in India is increasingly limited to representing the interests of the affluent and privileged classes. As a result, the voices of marginalized communities such as Muslims, Dalits, farmers, and laborers are disappearing from national discourse.
*The Mazloom* was established as an alternative platform to break this silence. Our aim is to bring forward the issues that mainstream media often overlooks — through fact-based, impartial, and socially just journalism.
The Mazloom was founded by Mohammad Affan, who is currently in his third year of undergraduate studies. Affan initiated this project with the thought that events and issues are often viewed through the lens of religion and caste, leading to the spread of hatred and fake news. This is sometimes done intentionally, and at other times, due to a lack of accurate information and research.
Through The Mazloom, our effort is to present fact-based news with thorough research and hard work, in order to increase awareness of the truth in society and protect against misleading propaganda.
We believe that if our efforts help even one person differentiate between right and wrong, then our endeavor will be considered successful. This is because an informed individual can lead many others to the path of truth and justice.
The Mazloom is a small initiative, but its foundation is rooted in truth, integrity, and social responsibility.
